The concept for British American Tobacco Cambodia converts an existing factory, a steel structure with a galvanised roof, into a dynamic and colourful workspace. The design is guided more by the quirky spirit of coworking setups than a standard office, paying respect to the warehouse’s special industrial character by constructing a new functional space around its exposed skeleton. As the structure’s two-storey height poses particular challenges in terms of the costs of running air-conditioning as well as energy waste, a suspended ceiling improves ventilation while lower ceilings in enclosed offices also block cool air. Furniture is placed in such a way to allow more desk space if required.
